Harboes is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of malt extract, and we have been supplying malt extract to the European food industry for more than 60 years.
Our customers include Europe’s largest bakeries, manufacturers of chocolate and breakfast products, and our malt-based ingredients are sold under our international brand Barlex.

Our product development is led by a team of talented specialists and product developers, who put all their knowledge and experience into turning the latest theories and technological solutions into new exciting products. Our development is done in close collaboration with our customers, so that we get the right solutions.
We test all the new ingredients – both on-site with the customer in their production facilities, and in our own test bakery, where we run workshops with our customers and try out new recipes and techniques.
Advice and test baking
Our development team has a trusting relationship when it comes to effectively implementing new ingredients in the individual customer’s value chain. Our team works closely with the bakeoff industry, among others.
In Skælskør, we have set up an ultra modern test bakery, where we run workshops and seminars with our customers, and where ingredients and recipes with malt extract are tested and sampled in bread.
